King of PEACE: Broken Silence
Pastor Jamie Self - 12/7/2025
In this Advent message, Pastor Jamie Self reflects on Zechariah’s prophetic song in Luke 1:67-79, a declaration that God's long silence has been broken with the arrival of redemption through Jesus. Using vivid imagery, Zechariah presents three portraits of Christ: the Horn of Salvation, symbolizing unstoppable power; the Forerunner (John the Baptist), preparing the way through repentance; and the Sunrise from on high, bringing light to those in deep spiritual darkness. This King comes not only to conquer sin but to lead His people into fearless, holy service — revealing a Savior who is both mighty and merciful.
Weekly Reflection
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people… and has raised up a horn of salvation for us.”
Zechariah had nine months of silence to consider the promises of God, and when his tongue was finally loosed, he didn’t waste words. He praised the Lord who keeps covenant, the God who breaks into silence with salvation. His song gives us three pictures of Jesus: the Horn of Salvation, full of power; the Forerunner, preparing hearts through repentance; and the Sunrise from on high, shining light into deep darkness. This is how God redeems- with a King strong enough to conquer sin and tender enough to guide us into peace.
