King of LOVE: Flowing Mercy
Pastor Jamie Self - 12/14/2025
Pastor Jamie Self unpacked Mary’s Magnificat from Luke 1:46–55, highlighting how her song celebrates God's mercy and the spiritual reversal brought through Christ’s coming. The sermon emphasized that God exalts the humble and brings down the proud, using Mary—an obscure, lowly young woman—as a powerful example of faith and favor. This message underscores that true joy and salvation come not from status or self-worth, but from fearing God, embracing our need for a Savior, and receiving His mercy.
Weekly Reflection
“God’s mercy flows down to the lowly.”
In a culture obsessed with self-esteem and success, Mary’s song flips the script. She celebrates not her status, but her need—her lowliness, her spiritual poverty, and the overwhelming mercy of God. Do we view our neediness as weakness or as the very thing that qualifies us for grace? The gospel teaches that the way up is down.
